A potential aviation disaster was avoided at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj international Airport after two commercial aircraft made contact with each other while moving on the taxiway on Monday night.
official said that incident took place when an Air India aircraft, schedule to operate a domestic flight, was waiting for clearance, while and Indigo plane was taxing after landing. During grounded movement, wing edges of the two aircraft touched, causing minor damage.
Airport authorities clarified that the contact happened at very low speed due to which no passengers on crew members were harmed. All travellers onboard both flights were reported to be safe, and the situation was brought under control immediately.
Flights Heritage for safety checks
Air India started that it’s aircraft has been temporarily taken out of service for precautionary technical inspection full stop passengers were safety taken of the plane and were either accommodated on alternate flights or provided necessary assistance.
IndiGo, in it’s response, confirmed the occurrence and sad standard safety procedures were followed. The airline added that the aircraft is being examined as per regulatory norms.
Probe Initiated by Aviation Authorities
The incident has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Officials have begun an enquiry to find out whether the incident was caused by operational error, coordination issues, or any other technical reason.
Despite the incident, flight operations at Mumbai airport continued without major disruption.
